The death of William White at his home in Wassaic on Feb 18, 1923, removed another of the noble army of 61 to 65, who fought bravely that our country might be undivided. He was born 82 years ago and was one of the first to enlist from his home town. He fought bravely and well and at the famous battle of Gettysburg, saw his comrades and friends mowed down one upon the other. Shortly after he was stricken with fever and for many months his life was despaired of. From his stalwart home came 12 sons and daughters. He is bereaved by his loving helpmate 32 years ago, and during that time has been both father and mother to his large family. Mrs. Albert Wheeler of Brewster was the youngest daughter.
