Mrs. Emma J. Condon, was born in Franklin, Delaware County, N.Y., Nov. 30, 1849. Died at her home in Cottage Grove, Mar. 25, 1906. She came to the Pacific Coast in 1857 and has lived in Oregon since 1879. Shortly after coming west she was married to Mr. Southworth (deceased) of California. Later she was married to Mr. P. G. Condon, who died about four years ago.
Mrs. Condon was the mother of seven children, six of who remain to mourn her departure. Mrs. Etta Walsh of Salem, Mrs. Julia Burkshire and Mrs. Gertie Mathews of Coburg, Mr. Stellman Southworth of Oakland, Irene Condon of this city and Leland of Portland.
About fifteen years ago Mrs. Condon became a follower of Jesus Christ, casting her lot with the Church of Christ in Cottage Grove, being a charter member of its reorganization. She was faithful as a Christian and at her death was teacher of the Bible class and an active member of the Ladies Aid of the Christian Church. Faithful in her service she was always to be found where she could be of aid and comfort to the those in need of comfort and encouragement.
Sister Condon was a loving mother, a kind neighbor and a helpful friend. She will be greatly missed by her children, her friends and the church.
