Roger K. Monn, 77 of 519 Hollywell Ave, Chambersburg died at 12:02 P. M. Tuesday, June 24, 1997 in Chambersburg Hospital.

Born February 20, 1920 in Chambersburg, he was the son of the late Norman S. and Elven A. (Over) Monn.

He and his wife, Esther "Gale" (Bowser) Monn were married on May 7, 1966.

Mr. Monn attended Clay Hill School, Kauffman.

He was a custodian for Chambersburg Area School Districk for 27 years before retiring in 1985.

Mr. Monn was a member of the Church of the Brethren Chambersburg.

During World War II, he served as a sergeant in both the European and the Pacific theaters.

Before World War II he servied four years in the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Mr. Monn was founder and member of the AFSCME Local 2935. He was a life member of the Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW. He also was a member of the Burt J. Asper American Legion Post 46.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four daughters, Bonita L. Barnhart of Fort Loudon, Lynn J. Hamsher of Fayetteville, Robin L. Monn-Aubert of New York, N.Y. and Cindy L. Martin of Chambersburg; a son, Dave Highlands of Chambersburg; a sister, Genevieve McCurdy of Chambersburg; a brother John Monn of Butler; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

Services will be held at 10 A. M. Saturday in the Church of the Brethren, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Kenneth L. Gibble officiating. Burial will be in Norland Cemetery, Chambersburg.

A military graveside service will be conducted by members of the Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW Chambersburg.

The family will recieve friends from 7 to 9 P. M. Friday in Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg, and one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 452 E. King Street, Chambersburg, Pa 17201.
