Hon. A. J. Thompson passed away Sunday evening following an illness of two weeks of pleurisy and developing into pneumonia. He was 78 years old and for many years was a prominent figure in Meade County having been elected Representative twice and served faithfully and to the best of his ability. He was a man of kind and genial personality and his friends were numbered by the score. He was born and reared near Guston and spent most of his life on the farm and was always interested in anything pertaining to farming. He lived in Flaherty about ten years before he died. He was a devoted man to his religion and died as he lived. He is survived by six children Mrs. Worland Carter, of Louisville; Mrs. Teana Foushee, of Louisville; John Ira, Walter, Raymond and Joda Thompson of Meade County; 30 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Burial services were at St. Martin Cemetery.

He was christened in St. Clare Catholic Church in Colesburg, Kentucky.
He had one child die in infancy. Her name is Ellen Thompson b. 18 May 1875. She was the twin sister of Mrs Christine Elizabeth Thompson Foushee.
He was survived by his wife Mary Arabella "Belle" Wheatley.
