He was married on February 8, 1842 in Geneva, Ontario, New York, to Martha Amanda Gillett, the daughter of Abner C Gillett and Electa Mills who lived in Junius, Seneca County. The couple lived in Clyde, Galen, Wayne County in 1850, moved to Seneca, Ontario County by 1860 and to Geneva, Ontario County by 1870. There Delos worked at a food store, and joined Joseph S Lewis in a stage line from Penn Yann to Geneva and other towns, and a livery business (From The Story of Geneva; compiled by E. The couple had four children: Erasmus Darwin Colvin 1843, Albert C Colvin 1845, Byron Colvin 1847, and Joseph L Colvin 1851.
