Maudie was the 4th of 14 children born to William Joseph Daugherty and Francis Jane "Jennie" Swyers. She first married Harry T. Eliot and they had no children. She later married Rev. James Floyd Quick. They had a stillborn son, while they were living in Linn, where James was pastoring a church. The baby is buried on the farm where they were living, outside of Linn,MO. She had 2 stepsons and 2 stepdaughters. She is buried between both of her husbands.
