Juanita Fay Pendleton, was a daughter of Cordie Lee Sr. Pendleton and Lela Jane Polk-Pendleton.

Juanita first married: Winford Wilson Kitchens 1946 Amarillo, Texas. Together they had one child, Loretta Faye Kitchens born in Amarillo, Texas Dec 16, 1947. The marriage did not last and Juanita took Loretta and moved to Exeter, California and was living with her Grandmother Cora Neel-Polk, her mother's mother.

Juanita wrote to Winford in Amarillo, Texas telling him she was getting a divorce. Winford traveled to Exeter, CA and took Loretta by force, and fled the state. Winford gave Loretta to his brother, Pete and sister-in-law Flora "Irene" Cagle-Kitchens living in Texas, to adopte and Winford joined the US Army in Texas and changed the spelling of his name to Winfred Kitchen.

Juanita did not have the funds to return to Texas and find her baby daughter Loretta and fight in the courts with Winford. Juanita's Grandmother Cora told her to if it was God's will Loretta would find Juanita one day, and Loretta did just that when she was 16 years old. Together Loretta and Juanita formed a family bond with Juanita's other children by her second marriage to Melvin Wolverton that would last to their graves.

This was the second child that Juanita gave up at the hands of a man and have her heart broken. The first was the child she gave birth to unmarried by Jessie Lee Reeves, US Army Private shipping out. Juanita's father found out she was with child and forced her to go to a unwedded mother's home, give birth and give the child/daughter "Clara Pendleton" up for adoption. That daughter would also find Juanita in 1996 from the Social Security Admin. and together Clara "Arlyna" and Juanita would also form a family bond with Juanita's other children from her two marriages.

Thousands of lives where changed because of World War II.
