Mr. James Lee "J. L." Webb, age 89, of Bankhead Hwy, Carrollton died Wednesday, October 17, 2007.

Mr. Webb was born in Carroll County on October 1, 1918, the son of the late James Lee Webb, Sr. and Nannie Stephens Webb.

Mr. Webb was a retired mail carrier with the US Postal Service, a veteran having served in the US Army Signal Corps during World War II, and a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Also, he was a member of the Carrollton Farmers American Legion Baseball Team where they won the State Championship in 1935.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Maida Rose Webb; sister, Myra W. Fuller of Carrollton; nieces, Meri Nixon, Melissa Ferguson, Molly Malone, Maria Mote; nephews, Webb Fuller, Grady Baggett, Jr., Jamie Baggett, Dick Pratt; five great nieces; six great nephews and four great great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Mavourneen Baggett, Christine Pratt and great niece, Carol Pratt Milton.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 19 at 4 p.m. with Dr. Jimmy Gentry, Dr. Howard Cobble and Dr. Steve Davis officiating.

Pallbearers will be Charles Mote, Daniel Mote, Dick Pratt, Grady Baggett, Jr., Walter Thomason, and Chris Ferguson.

Interment will be in the Carrollton City Cemetery with American Legion Post #143 making the presentation of the flag.
