Merle G. Burks, 84, Macon, formerly of Fulton, died March 17, 2002, at Loch Haven Nursing Home, Macon.
She was born March 29, 1917, in Mokane, a daughter of Benjamin R. and Altha Birdena Bowman Garrett.
She worked for the International Shoe Company in Fulton for more than 20 years and then worked for Fulton State Hospital as an aide for more than 10 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one son, Steve Burks, Ethel, and six grandchildren.
Two sons, David Paul Burks and John Raymond Burks, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Robert Payne will officiate. Burial will be in Hams Prairie Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Thursday.
