Ed.O. Schoonover, SF Official, Dies.

Ed O. SCHOONOVER, 56, frieght claim agent for the Santa Fe Railway Co. at Topeka, died Tuesday morning at the Santa Fe Hospital. He became ill Monday at Emporia while attending a division freight loss and damage prevention meeting and was brought to the hospital in Topeka.

He was born December 12, 1894, at Havensville and started his railroad career as a mail clerk in the Santa Fe claim department at Topeka in 1913. He became claim investigator in 1918, claim inspector in 1926 and assistant chief clerk in the claim department in 1945. He was transferred to Amarillo, Texas, as freight claim agent in November, 1949. He returned to Topeka August 1, 1950, as freight claim agent here.

He was a member of Orient Lodge No. 51, A.F.&A.M., Topeka Commandery No. 5, Knights Templar; the Arab Shrine and the Shawnee Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lola Schoonover; two daughters, Mrs. Dean HILL, Topeka and Mrs. A.A. MOSER, Kansas City; a son, Morris Schoonover, with the U.S. Navy at Guam; his mother, Mrs. Ada Schoonover; two brothes, Albert Schoonover, Little Rock, Ark., and Elvin Schoonover, Valencia, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. jack BOUDOUIN, Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mrs. Nellie HUYETT, Hoyt.

The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wall-Diffenderfer Mortuary with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Norman HORN, Claude DARGITZ, Ray DEANE, Orville J. BROWN, F. A. RANKIN and L. PAINTER.
The honorary pallbearers will be C.D. HART, E.W. THOMAS, H.B. FINK, H. GENTLE, E. METZDORF, C.R. HOLMES, W.L. MORE, C.O. CLARK, W.H. TURNER and I. BARNUM.
