She is the niece of Ann McNeill McDiarmid. According to a family narrative found in "Hometown Heritage" by Lucile Miller Johnson, two of Ann's older sisters and their Tory husbands were exiled from Bladen County after the Revolutionary War. They established homes in the Bahamas. Jane was most likely born in the Bahamas and maybe passed while visiting her aunt Ann in Manchester.


The stone notes that it was erected by her cousins Angus and Archibald Taylor.
