Clifford "Smoky" O'Brien, 72 of Sheridan, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, in Memorial Hospital of Sheridan County after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services are 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, in Sheridan Municipal Cemetery with the Rev. Ray Clark officiating.
Mr. O'Brien was born April 15, 1926, in Livingston, Mont. to George and Virginia O'Brien. He grew up in Montana and served in the Army during World War II. He married Alice Clark Nov. 17, 1972, in Cresco, Iowa. They moved to Sheridan in 1979. Smoky owned and operated the Shamrock Construction company until he retired in 1995. He enjoyed music, playing guitar and singing in the Country Gold Band. He also enjoyed bowling and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by one son Terry Brown.
Survivors include his wife of Sheridan, sons Cory O'Brien of Washington state, Randy Brown of Wheatland and Jimmy Brown of Cody, daughters Susan LaFratta, Tacoma, Wash.,Beverly Lopez, Reno, Nev., Barbie Thompson, Seattle, Sandra Levi, Sheridan and Amy Bentz, Casper; and many grand and great-grandchildren.
Memorials may benefit the Clifford "Smoky" O'Brien Memorial Fund in care of Delphine Toner, First Interstate Bank, Box 2007, Sheridan, Wyo. 82801
Ferries Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
