Death of Former Resident
Mrs. William Worthley, Saturday evening, received the sad news of the death of her father. E. M. Lowe, formerly of this city, but for twelve years past a resident of Nebraska. Mr. Lowe was very sick in the early spring with double pneumonia, but it was thought he had almost entirely recovered from that, when he was taken again the 14th with heart trouble. He died on the morning of the 15th. Mr. Lowe leaves besides Mrs. Worthley, two children, Louis Lowe, who who was with his father, and Mabel now living in this city.
The deceased resided in this city several years ago during which time he practiced his profession, that of law. Mr. Lowe had many friends here who will be pained to learn of his demise.

By accounts of Michigan City News, Elias had moved to Nebraska in 1884. He was the county Judge there for over 12 years. Perhaps wife Anna Eliza died before this, maybe in `1883 when the last child was born.
Son Louis was with his father when he died, he would have been 21 years old at that time, there was no mention of wife Anna in his obituary so one can assume she had died before him.

This writer has searched the 1885 census of the entire state of Nebraska and did not locate Elias in that census, however since he is a circuit judge he may not have been in any one location for the census taker. The Holt county census has over 800 hundred pages and to browse it would take forever searching Elias out .
