Funeral Services For Mrs. Stenger Are Held Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. R. W. Stenger were held at 2:30 Sunday afternoon, February 2, at the First Methodist Church. Rev. Elson P. Hargrove, pastor, officiated and interment was in the Carnegie Cemetery with Pitcher Funeral Home in charge.
Glenna Lucille Thys was born January 20, 1922, near Eakly and died at 2:30 a.m. Thursday January 30, in Wesley Hospital, Oklahoma City, at the age of 42 years and 10 days.
She was married to R. W. Stenger, May 25, 1944, and to them one son, Carroll Roland was born.
Glenna was graduated from Eakly high school, attended Carnegie Junior College and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Southwestern State College, Weatherford. She had been a member of the Carnegie school faculty until last November when ill health forced her retirement. She had been teaching for the past 15 years, the last nine and one-half in the local system.
She was a member of FFA and Bank Mothers clubs a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and had been an active member of the Methodist church since February 10, 1932. She was a member of the church choir, never failing to accept any responsibility in the church when asked.
She is survived by her husband and the son, Carroll of the home; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Will Thys, three aunts, Mrs. George Kaufman, Mrs. Angie Cole and Miss Ella Thys, all of Carnegie, and an uncle, Emile Thys of Hurst, Texas.
