William "Jim" Yapp, 85, of Sterling, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in Sterling. There will be private family services, and inurnment at Riverside Cemetery. Mr. Yapp was born Nov. 30,1917, in Sterling to Roy and Florence Yapp. He attended Sterling schools, graduating from Sterling High School in 1936. He entered the Army during World War II, serving in Vienna. He was discharged on May 9,1946.Mr. Yapp married Constance Magnuson in Sioux Falls, S.D. on May 3, 1947. He owned Sterling Sheet Metal and Roofing, and sold it after 45 years in the business. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the BPO Elks Lodge No. 1336, American Legion Post No. 20 and VFW Post No. 3541. He collected and enjoyed records, old magazine covers and old, large books. He is survived by wife Constance Yapp; son David James Yapp; brother Kenneth Yapp, all of Sterling; and sister
Lucille Hays, of Sun City, Ariz. He was preceded in death by daughter Laurel Griego.
