John Henry was the eldest son of Rev. Basil & Fredericka Christina (Weidenhamer) Derry.
John Henry's surname is also found as spelled "DEARY."

A descendant of one of John Henry's grandchildren through marriage wrote:
"On the 1898 Atlas map of Adair Co., Missouri it shows John Deary as living on his own farm (60 acres) in section 14 of the West Part of Pettis Township, Adair Co., Mo.
On the 1900 Adair County, Mo. census John Deary, his wife, and 9 children are all living in the same household on their father's farm. One son & one daughter are listed as being married but no spouses names are given. Where are William and his sister Mary E. Deary's spouses?
On the 1908 Atlas Map of Adair Co., Mo. it shows the son of John H. & Celia J. Deary, Andrew Jackson Derry, having his own farm (80 acres) in section 22 of the West Part of Pettis Township, Adair Co., Mo.
Still no record of where John H. & Celia J. Deary/Derry are buried. If they are buried anywhere in Adair Co., Mo. then they have no stone.
So it appears John Deary (the father) and Andrew J. Derry (his son) bought their own farms in different locations in the same general area located between Kirksville and Brashear, Mo.!
Sometime between 1886 and 1896, John Henry and family moved from Illinois to Missouri.
More to come for my Uncle John Henry, as we discover the information.
