Mildred E. Reed, 90, of Aledo, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island.

Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Fippinger Funeral Home, Aledo, with the Rev. John Crede officiating. Burial is in Aledo Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Rock Island County, daughter of Galbreath and Mamie McKillup Stewart. She attended local schools. She married Oliver Reed March 29, 1930, in Muscatine, Iowa. He died Dec. 26, 1978.

Mildred was a homemaker, was employed at the Coast-To-Coast Store, Aledo, and was a member of the former Aledo Moose Lodge.

Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Lorenda and Jesse Stoner, Viola, Grace and Michael Hardie, Oakland, Calif., and Nancy and Donald Slavish, Colona; son, Gary Reed, New Mexico; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Richard; a grandson, Alan Slavish; and a sister, Helen Maxwell.
