John was killed in a hit and run auto accident which occurred on Christmas Day, Wednesday December 25, 1946, along with his son, George Henry 'Bill' HUNT. They were on a hunting trip. Bill had just returned from the Army WWII.
John, a laborer and Sarah lived at 718 South Stout Street. (January 2000, this address was an empty lot).
Per the Pulaski, TN Citizen Newspaper dated December 25, 1946 the wreck occurred at 4:30 pm on Highway 31, in the Tarpley Shop section 5 miles south of Pulaski.

Records show Johnnie was a coal miner when his son, Robert Paul Hunt, was born October 4, 1922
However, he was a carpenter later in life.
