Birth Certificate says May 30, 1917, "Nora Dugan". Marriage application says May 30, 1919, Honorè J. Dugan, but it is possible that it was changed from 1917 to 1919. Note that her sister was born in 1919. Gravestone says 1919. There is a little mystery as sometime after 1930, she changed her first name to her maternal grandmothers' - Honorè.

Honorè was born in Philadelphia where her childhood was not as wonderful as her husbands. Her parents separated early and for a short while she and her sister were placed in a "foundling" home. [It was very hard for a man to raise two daughters alone, especially back in the early 1920's.] Then later they were taken in by a family, but that was not an ideal circumstance either. Though she did maintain a wonderful relationship through the years with their daughter.

1920 - Philadelphia Census, "Nora" 2, b. PA, is found with her father, Edward 22, b. PA, mother Frances 20, B. WV, and sister Mary 8 months, b. PA. Note that she is two years old on the 1920 Census.

1930 - Philadelphia Census, "Nora" 12, Mary 9, living with Otto Paul, 58, b. Germany and Angelica 49, b. PA. Nora and Mary are listed as "lodgers."

1939 - Honorè's version of the "whirlwind" courtship is a little different as she mentioned that Bob really enjoyed the big city life from the nightclubs to partying with his college buddies. But then his life took a big change as he said he saw her standing in the doorway of a mutual friend's diner. He jumped out of his car and insisted on being introduced too her as she was "that girl" that he had seen several times previously and had wanted to meet. Joe introduced them and they were married shortly after.

1939 - August 4 --- Corry Journal --- "WILCOX DUGAN NUPTIALS JULY 31 ANNOUNCED: - Mrs. Otto J. Paul of East Germantown, PA, today announced the marriage of her niece, Miss Honorè J. Dugann to Robert J. Wilcox, son of Mr and Mrs Frank Wilcox, East Main Street, Corry which took place ... at the Immaculate Concystion Rectory at Germantown. The groom, a graduate of Corry High School and Denison University at Granville is employed by Talon Co. of Phialdephia at which place they will reside."

1940 - Philadelphia Census, Robert 28, Honorè 22, living on Staunton Avenue.

1945c - Family moved to Corry, PA.

1958 - Family relocated from Corry to Millcreek, PA. As the years past, one of her greatest joys was becoming a grandmother.

1979 - Honorè relocated to Florida with a daughter and lived there until her death. When she first moved, she was not too sure she would like the heat, bugs, etc., but she really enjoyed walking her dog Mollie in the early mornings along the water. She marveled over the different wildlife she would see. Mom also became the "foreman" of the new house being built, she visited the site everyday and reported to us each day on the progress. She joined the choir at her church, took up bowling again, and began to have an active social life.

1985 - Honorè died in Spring Hill, Florida, January 1st. Her goal after she became ill was to see another Christmas, her favorite holiday, and she did.

1985 - "WILCOX - Honorè Wilcox, age 67, passed away in Spring Hill, Florida where she has resided for the past 5 years. Formerly a 25 years resident of Erie. Mother of one son ..., two daughters ... Gail Ann Spears of Erie. Sister Veronica [Mary] Dauth, Coral Gables, FL. 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild also survive. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 a.m., Friday at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Spring Hill, FL. Pinecrest Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements." [Thurs -3-T-1985]

Mom was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She and dad raised us to respect everyone, no matter what their race or religion. They always were willing to chaperon our school activities and outings. We were allowed to bring our friends home anytime for dinner, and all were made welcome.

[She is buried with her husband Robert in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Millcreek Township, Erie, PA]
