James "Jim" Robert Allyn, 73, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at his home in Bella Vista. He was born on October 18, 1936 in Fremont, Ohio to Robert H. Allyn and Edna Smith Allyn.
He was raised and educated in Minnesota, and graduated from Drake University in Iowa. Jim married Donna Lee Duncan on June 25, 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army, from 1960 – 1961. He was employed by Owatonna Tool Company for over 25 years and retired in 1996. He was an active member of the Masons and the Shrine. He achieved 28 years of sobriety in A.A.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Lee Allyn of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two sons, Barry James Allyn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Bradley Duncan Allyn (Carmen) of Shellsburg, Iowa; one sister, Faye Kottke (Bill) of Owatonna, Minnesota; and four grandchildren, Jordan, Josiah, Zachary, Sarah, and one great-grandchild, Ashton.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 5, 2010 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Presbyterian Church of Bella Vista, 1880 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, Arkansas with Reverend Laura Fleetwood officiating.
