My Maternal 3rd Great Grandfather
---
Joseph was the son of John Littleton and Nellie Skidmore. He married Sarah Ann Parks and to this union were born Elizabeth, John Thomas, William Peterson, Rebecca, Nathan James, Lemuel B, Samuel Thomas, Eliza J and Joseph. According to his obituary they had 11 children in total.
--
Joseph Littleton was in the state around 1840. Joseph D. Littleton and Sarah Ann Parks married September 30 1841 in Chariton County, Missouri.
1850 Chariton county census they were living four houses from Jonah Moore & Amelia White McAllister Moore Parks. Best I can remember they appear in Chariton County Census either Salisbury Twp. or Chariton Twp.
1900 census Joseph is enumerated with his daughter Elizabeth Young in Salisbury, MO.

N. J. Littleton obit taken from January 9th, 1903 Salisbury Press Spectator. N. J. Littleton, aged about 84 years, died at 12 o'clock Monday night of old age. Mr. Littleton was born in Kentucky and came to this state in 1862; was married about that time to Mrs. Sarah Parks, to whom eleven children were born, eight of whom survive. For several years at least since his wife died four years ago he has lived with his daughter, Mrs. Jno. Young. He was a good old man, a member of the Baptist church and on Wednesday his remains were laid to rest in Salisbury Cemetery. Our sympathy is extended to all the bereaved ones.
NOTE- Unsure why he is referred to N.J. His son was named Nathan James, but this is obviously referring to Joseph, who was married to Sarah Parks and whose daughter, Elizabeth, was married to John Young.
