FRANK BATTEN, NATIVE OF POLK COUNTY, DIED IN CALIFORNIA HOSPITAL

Alfred Batten of Bolivar has been notified of the death of an uncle, Frank Batten, of Ventura, Calif., who was born and reared near the Mt. Gilead community southeast of Bolivar.

Frank Batten Dies at 76

Frank Delmar Batten, 76, a retired farmer, died in a local hospital yesterday after an extended illness.

Mr. Batten had lived in this city for 55 years. He was born Sept. 18, 1886, in Bolivar and moved to Ventura from his home town.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Batten, of Ventura, Calif., two daughters, Mrs. Freda Logranz of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Jess A. Stillians of Ventura, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Della Pratt of Madera, Calif.; three brothers, E. E. of Ventura, W. E. of San Antonio, Tex., and Alonzo of Bolivar; and two grandchildren.

Relatives request that donations in his memory go to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral services were conducted at the Joseph Reardon Funeral Chapel in Ventura, Calif., with burial in Ivy Lawn Cemetery.
