HOBSON - Glenn Gore, 90, of Hobson, died Wednesday at the Central Montana Skilled Nursing Center of natural causes.

Viewing and visitation is from 2 -4 p.m. Sunday at Creel Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Philbrook Cemetery, south of Hobson.

Glenn was born to Grant and Maude (Cox) Gore on March 3, 1920 in Lewistown, the 10th of 14 children. He was raised on the family farm up Cottonwood. He attended Fergus High School, where he participated in boxing and joined the Montana National Guard, Company K. He graduated in 1938.
Company K was activated in 1940, and joined the 163rd Infantry, 41st Division.

Glenn served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, and was honorably discharged in 1945, having earned the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.

Glenn married Patricia "Pat" Pierce on March 17, 1947 in Lewistown. He started college at Montana State University and transferred to Colorado A&M, where he earned his BS degree.

His teaching career started in 1950, in Fort Morgan, Colorado. Glenn and Pat moved to Hobson in 1953, where Glenn taught vo-ag, shop, drivers education and any other class that needed a teacher. He taught in Hobson for 28 years, but he was more than a teacher - he was a mentor, a task master and an inspiration to students and fellow teachers.

Glenn and Pat built a house in 1954, where they raised three daughters and where Glenn lived until just weeks before his death.

Glenn was very active in the community, having served on the city council for 40-plus years, volunteered as a fireman and ambulance driver, and became the town's "fix-it" guy. He also was very involved and won many honors with the FFA, both locally and nationally. He lived the FFA creed: "Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, Living to Serve."

He was known as Glenn to some, but most knew him as Mr. Gore - "Pappy" or "Mr. Cotter" behind his back. There are quite a few that called him Uncle Glenn, four lucky ones got to call him Grandpa, but the luckiest of all called him Dad.

Glenn lived his life putting other people's needs ahead of his own. He gave of his heart, his time and his talents. He gave of himself and will be greatly missed.

Glenn was preceded in death by wife, Pat, in 1994; a daughter, Jan, in 2007; his parents; and 13 brothers and sisters.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam Lundquist, of Farwell, Minnesota; and Sandy Gore, of Sandpoint, Idaho; four grandchildren, Jake MacDonald, of Minneapolis, Sarah Gore, of Lincoln, California, Jabin Gore, of Mandan, North Dakota, and Adya Gore, of Lewistown.

Memorials are suggested to the Hobson Alumni Scholarship Fund. Condolences may be posted online at www.gftribune.com/obituaries
