H. Transue, C. Quakenbush, J. Albers & H. Schafer Are Victims

Howard Transue of Studley and Julian John Albers, 16, of Park, Kansas, were killed instantly in a one car accident two miles south of Hoxie, at 8:00 o'clock last Tuesday night. Clifford Quakenbush, about 31, died three hours later at hospital. Howard Schafer, fourth occupant of the car, was in a critical condition Wednesday morning.

The car, a late model Chrysler belonging to Howard Transue, was a complete wreck. It hit a bridge abuttment two miles south of Studley on K-23 and turned over several times, rolling 400 feet before coming to a stop. The victims were all thrown clear of the car and were found south of the wreck. The men had been to Hoxie for machinery repair parts and were on their way home when the tragic accident occurred. All, except Albers, were neighbors living southwest of Studley.

Transue is survived by his wife and two daughters; Albers, by his parents and other relatives; and Quakenbush, by his wife and 3 young sons. Schafer is married and has three children.
