Eugene 'Gene' Thomas Dyar, 90, of 109 Schoolhouse Street, husband of Bessie Hunnicutt Dyar died May 11, 1999, at Cannon Hospital.
Mr. Dyar was born in Oconee County, son of the late Noah T. and Julia Von Hollen Dyar. Mr. Dyar was retired from Ryobi in Pickens and was a member of Martin Grove Wesleyan Church. Mr. Dyar was also a music director at Morgan Memorial in Seneca, Mt. View Wesleyan in Salem and Woodside Avenue Wesleyan Church in Greenville.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nellie Stewart and her husband, Jody of Simpsonville; two grandsons, Jody E. Stewart and his wife, Jane of Mauldin and Bruce Stewart of Gainesville, Fla.; a stepgrandson, Brian Thomas of Taylors; a stepdaughter-in-law, Patricia Thomas of Taylors; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Service will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in the Chapel of Dillard Memorial Funeral Home by the Rev. Dan Fortney, the Rev. Harold Nicholson and the Rev. Homer Smith. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Jody E. Stewart, Brian Thomas, Joel Dyar, Jerry Kelley, Benny Kelley and L.C. Byars. Escort of Honor will be the Men of Martin Grove Wesleyan Church.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
