According to sister's recollection served in WWII in the "333rd Army Engineer Corps"-was in the European theatre-participated in D-Day landing. (In August of 1943 he was in Co. F, 333rd Engineers, E.U.T.C. at Camp Claiborne, Louisana.) Was in the reserves after WWII and called back to serve in the Korean Conflict-participated in the Chosin (sp?) Reservoir battle.

IF ANYONE WITH EXPERTISE in the history of the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII and the Korean Conflict can tell me if this is feasible or shed any light on this info PLEASE CONTACT ME. Thank you!

Was awarded a Carnegie Bronze Medal for saving the life of a friend in 1936. For this action he was also one of two for that year (1936 or 1937?) presented with the Gold Honor Medal by the America National Court of Honor of Boy Scouts of America for heroism as well as a Certificate of Heroism.

WHITEMAH-John C. Whiteman, Jr, 35, resident of this city two years from Crecent City, Calif., passed away here Saturday noon after a sudden illness. He lived at 1113 Luthy Circle NE and is survived by his widow; three sons, Jochn C. III; Michael Eugene and Robert Winslow; a daughter Patricia Ann all here, his father, John C. WHiteman, Rockville, MO., his mother, Mrs. Earlie Whiteman, Sedalia, MO; five brothers, Carl, Phoenix, Lee, San Diego, Paul Fulton, MO, Bob, Warrensburg, Mo and Eugene in Texas; two sisters, Mrs. August Williams, ARdmore Okla, and Mrs. Ray Berry, Prescott, Ariz. He was a member of La Mesa Presbyterian Church. Funeral Arrangements will be announced by Strong-Thorne Mortuary.

WHITEMAN-Funeral services for John C. Whiteman, Jr. will be held Wednesday afternoon at 4 from the La Mesa Presbyerian Church. The Pallbearers will be: Billy E. Todd, John Regner, Ronnie Erickson and Tommy Sherping. Interment will be made in Fairview Park. The STrong-Thorne Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
