He married Rebecca Jane Briggs of Alabama (or South Carolina) in 1812 in Alabama. They lived in Alabama, then Indiana, and eventually settled at Money Creek, McLean County, Illinois in about 1840. They had at least 12 children: Walker Hampton, Anderson S., Wesley Fletcher and Harriet Ann Bishop (Wilson) were born in Alabama; Thornton Gurney, James Veron/Vernon, William Randolph and Sander/s E. Bishop were born in Wayne County, Indiana; Pleasant Wiley Bishop was born in Indiana, and Charles and Mary Bishop (Buckles) were born at Money Creek, Illinois. A son, Alva H. Bishop, who was born in 1830 in Indiana died as a child, as did another sibling, Charles.
William was a farmer, and later, the postmaster at Money Creek in 1850. His wife survived him.
