E.E. ÒPeteÓ Pickett, 79, of Lufkin, was born April 25, 1928, in Horatio, Arkansas, the son of the late Grace (Ayers) and Homer Pickett. He passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008, at his residence. Mr. Pickett was a self employed exterminator for more than 32 years. He was a member of the Eagle Lodge in Houston, the Moose Lodge in Colorado, and the Masonic Lodge No. 669, A.F. & A.M. in Lufkin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed camping with his family. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Pickett was a member of Highway Baptist Church in Huntington. Survivors include his daughter, Donna Jean Whitaker of Lewisville; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Joe Castillo of Houston, Cecilia Louise and Daniel Munoz of Houston, Renee and Frank Gainer of Lufkin and JoAn and Chuck Majors of Caldwell; son and daughter-in-law, Alfred and Eleanor Aguilar of Houston; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, JoAnn McKnight of Kansas City, KS and Johnnie Inge of New Caney; brothers, James Pickett of Centerville and Harlon Pickett of Montgomery; and a number of nieces, nephews, other family members and a host of friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pickett was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Pickett; son, Gary Moore; brothers, J.D. Pickett and Roger Pickett; and sisters, Billie Jean Pickett and Doris Gray. Pallbearers will be J.C. Crawford, Bobby Dean, Joe Register, Joe Rice, Gene Nelson and Martin Estburn. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge No. 669, A.F. & A.M. Expressions of sympathy in Mr. PickettÕs memory may be made to Highway Baptist Church, P.O. Box 848, Huntington, Texas 75949. Services for Mr. Pickett will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Lamar Denby officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park under the auspices of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge No. 669, A.F. & A.M. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Gipson Funeral Home. Gipson Funeral Home; Philip Snead, director.
