"Mr. Ackerman was born in Germany 2-1-1824 and came to Huntington County in 1848 settling in Jackson township. Six years ago his wife died and three years later he came to Huntington, making his home with his daughter, Mrs. O. A. Baker. He was the father of eight children, four of whom survive him. They are Mrs. Mary Smith and Frank Ackerman of Milwaukee, Wis., Charles Ackerman and Mrs. O A Baker of this city. Besides the children there are fourteen grandchildren, and little Miss Lucile Best being a great grandchild."
