Contributed by Merllene - Rites To Be Saturday for Mrs. Flier Armstrong – Funeral services will be held Saturday for Vida Aletha [Steen] Flier, 74, who died at her home here July 3 of a heart condition. She had been in failing health for the past few years.
She was born April 22, 1889, at Tama and received her education in rural Tama schools. In 1904, she married Frank Flier at Tama and the couple farmed in the Tama area before moving to Ringsted where they continued to farm.
After living in the Ringsted area, they moved to the George Holl farm where they kept house for him. Mr. Flier retired and the Fliers moved with him to Armstrong.
Mr. Holl later died and Frank Flier died after that in 1950. She was remarried in 1953 to John Flier at Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers and sisers.
Family services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James Rowe officiating. Public services will be at 2 p.m. Burial is to be at Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the Slaba Funeral Home until time of services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 5, 1963)
