Joseph Henry Adams was born in the District of Columbia. He graduated from Harvard University in 1881 and studied law at the Columbia Law School in the District. His law offices were at 59 Wall Street. In 1903 he was a member of the State Assembly and in 1922 was Assistant District Attorney. He was a member of the Sons of the Revolution, St. David’s Society, the Harvard Club and was a vestryman at St. Michael’s Church. He died at age 57 on April 20, 1924 at St. Luke’s Hospital after a brief illness. He was a resident of 249 West 104th Street. Funeral services were held at St. Michael’s Church at Amsterdam Avenue and Ninety-ninth Street.
