Catherine Jean Dyal Van Zant, 90, of Hilliard, FL passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021 in Fernandina Beach, FL following a lengthy illness. She was born August 11, 1931 in Hilliard, FL.

Catherine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother aunt and friend who was famous for her key lime, carrot and Italian Wedding cakes and was fondly called "the cake lady." She was a member of Hilliard First United Methodist Church and later faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Hilliard until her death. Catherine loved her Lord and Savior and much enjoyed her Senior Sunday School class and attending the Young at Heart luncheons.

Catherine was a quiet woman who served her family, friends, church and community with her loving, compassionate and servant's spirit in her younger days. She spent many years helping to organize the Methodist Church Christmas Bazaar and had been an active member of the Esther Society.

She will be dearly missed by her children, grandchildren , great grands and the many family members and friends who knew her, but we are rejoicing that she is now with her Heavenly Father. Proverbs 31:26-31 does best describe her.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Johnnie Angelo Van Zant; a daughter: Patsy Palmer; her parents: Bailey Dyal and Lula Thomas Dyal; her siblings: Leila Drury, Martha Lee Drury, Chris Johnson, Mae Williams, Bill Johnson, Joe Dyal, and Faye Young.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Lynne and Bobby Jordan and Kevin and Sharon Van Zant; her grandchildren: Brandon (Amber) Jordan, Kristen (Josh) Musgrove, Chelsea Van Zant, Brianna Van Zant and Gannon Byrd; great grandchildren: Kaylee Young, Hayley Jordan, Leighton Jordan, Mya Fryer, Bristol Musgrove and Lane Musgrove.

The family will receive friends Friday, December 3 at the First Baptist Church of Hilliard from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 4 at 1:00 PM at the church with Rev. Sonny Foraker officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Hilliard, FL.
