Paul L. Knapstad, 75, 30 S. Rodney, formerly of 2320 National, joined his Lord and Savior on May 9, at the Helena Nursing Home.

Paul was born Aug. 8, 1917, in Sawyer, N.D. to the late Rev. Andrew C. and Hazel A. Knapstad. Paul worked a variety of jobs over the years including carpentry and being a salesman in Gambles and Tempo Stores. He owned and operated Paul's Key Shop for 10 years. He later started P and D Cleaning.

On April 7, 1946, in Helena, he married Dorothy M. Arnsted. He is a World War II veteran, where he served in the Tank Corps. Paul was also a member of the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the American Veterans. His hobbies included hunting and fishing.

Paul's greatest joy in life was meeting and communication with people.

He was preceded in death by his wife on Dec. 6, 1988; a daughter, Nadine; a brother, Alf; and his parents.

Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Cliff Knapstad of Helena, Garry Knapstad of Ogden, Utah and Roger and Clara Knapstad of Helena; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sandra and Wayne Gresh of Vancouver, Wash. and Patricia and Roy Riphenburg of Fort Shaw; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Dori Knapstad of Cascade, Joe and Joyce Knapstad of Great Falls; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Josie Luchsinger of Helena and Ruth Magstadt of Williston, N.D., Esther Bradfold of Minot, Stella and Archie Kouba and Foris and Hildor Nelson of Minot, N.D.; nine grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law, Clifford Larson of Medford, Ore.

Chapel services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m. from Hagler-Anderson Chapel with Rev. Victor Berg of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Internment services will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
