Titusville Herald, February 5, 1917:

Amos Randell Worden, for forty-five years a well known and highly respected resident of this community, died at 11:30 o'clock Friday night at his home near this village (Chapmanville), aged 87 years. Death was due to the infirmities of old age and was not unexpected. Mr. Worden was born in New York state on Dec. 20, 1831, and on Nov. 15, 1858, he was united in marriage with Miss Elizabeth Barnes, who died on Dec. 20, 1910. He came to this vicinity in the early seventies and was one of the substantial citizens here. He was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church, having affiliated with the church when he was 18 years of age. Until his advancing years prevented him, he was active in all movements for the upbuilding of the community. He leaves one son, John Worden, residing on the homestead and one brother, Clark Worden, who lives near Franklin. He also has seven grandchildren. The funeral was held at the home this afternoon. Rev. Mr. Marshall of the Cooperstown Presbyterian church officiating. Music was rendered by Mrs. Alena Morse, Frank Proper and Wade Jennings, who sang "Sweet Be Thy Rest" and "No More Goodbyes." The pall bearers were Amos and Leslie Worden, Harry Bean and Iva August, grandsons.

ALSO - Amos Warden, an aged and highly respected citizen of Plum township, was buried in Chapmanville cemetery on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Mr. Warden was a life-long member of the M.E. church and until the past two years never missed a quarterly meeting on the Sunville charge. He leaves one son, John, of Chapmanville, and an aged brother, Clark Warden, of Warden's Corners. Mr. Warden was aged about 85 years. His wife and two daughters and one son preceded him several years ago. Rev. Marshall, Presbyterian minister of Cooperstown, officiated.
