Daniel was a Revolutionary War Veteran. He Served in Dutchess Co. Militia, 3rd Reg. under Col. John Field.

Daniel Doane was born in January 1756, in Dutchess, New York, United States, his father, David Doane, was 47 and his mother, Lydia Brown, was 28. He married Jerusha Newman about 1796, in New York, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 2 daughters. He registered for military service in 1780. He died on 17 April 1836, in Locke, Cayuga, New York, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Locke, Cayuga, New York, United States.
