He was chairman of the board of Akron University, and was given an honorary doctor of humanities degree 4 days before his death His father, Fred founded the first store in the huge chain on a site now occupied by Akron University campus. The Albrecht family gave the original site to the university. father, Fred W., who founded the first store in the huge chain on a site now occupied by Akron University campus.

Mr Hurl Albrecht also was a director of the Firestone Bank and a senior honor deacon of Trinity Lutheran Church. Survived by his wife. Mary; two daughters, Mrs. R. W. Apple and Mrs. D. I. Minning; and a sister, Mrs. Fred D. Barton. The family home was at 530 Ridge Crest Road.
