Michael A. Paszko, 83

HAVERHILL — Mr. Michael A. Paszko, 83, of Bradford, died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at his home, following a period of declining health.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, the son of the late John and Frances (Ryczko) Paszko, he graduated from Haverhill Trade School and also attended Fitchburg State College.

He served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 until 1946 and was stationed in the United States, Asia and other overseas countries.

Mr. Paszko was a machine shop instructor at the former Haverhill Trade School from 1955 until 1972 and later at the Whittier Regional Vocational and Technical High School from 1972 until his retirement in 1991.

A member of St. John the Baptist Parish of Haverhill, the former St. Michael's Parish, and the Massachusetts Teachers' Association, he enjoyed buying and rehabilitating older Haverhill properties. He also enjoyed baking bread, especially Polish breads and at one time planned to open a bakery.

He was proud of his Polish heritage and enjoyed attending Polka parties with his late wife Cecilia. Well-known in the Haverhill community, he was instrumental in helping to establish the Consentino School on Washington Street in Haverhill.

The husband of the late M. Cecilia (Drelick) Paszko, he is survived by six children: son, Peter M. Paszko of Haverhill; daughter and son-in-law, Mary F. Paszko and Adam Michelson of Winchester; son, Paul E. Paszko of Haverhill; daughter, Teresa Weber of Haverhill; son and daughter-in-law, James P. and Michelle (Siney) Paszko of Haverhill; and daughter, Cynthia E. Paszko of Haverhill; grandchildren, Timothy Paszko, Sarah Weber, Michael Weber, Tyler Paszko, and Ashley Paszko; great-grandchildren, Skylih Marie Paszko and Timothy Paszko, Jr.; brothers, Walter Paszko, Zigmund Paszko, John Paszko, and Stanley Paszko, all of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers, Joseph Paszko and William Paszko; and sisters, Veronica Paszko and Doris (Paszko) Clement.

ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, July 11, 2010 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Route 121A, Plaistow, N.H. His funeral will be held on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. in Saint John the Baptist Church, Lincoln Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Bradford. Memorial donations may be made to The American Diabetes Association.
