Obituary for Gaspare LaGrasse

Gaspare "Gus" J. LaGrasse, 96, of Lawrence passed away Sunday, July 4th, 2010 at his home. He was born in Lawrence, and was the son of the late Domenico and Antonina (Titone) LaGrasse.

Gus was educated in the Lawrence Public School system. He worked in the Auto business and owned Lawrence Union Auto Sales for many years before his retirement. He also worked as a Presser for Greico Brother's in Lawrence and was the President of the clothing union.

Gus was an avid sports fan and card player. He loved working outside, staying fit and exercising. Gus had a passion for horse racing; he frequently made trips to Rockingham Park in Salem, N.H., and at one time owned a horse. Gus was a long time parishioner of St. Patrick's Church, and was a member of the "Hamlet Health Club at the YMCA in Lawrence.

Gus was Predeacesd by his wife of 62 years Celia (Schiavone) LaGrasse. Daughter Susan LaGrasse; Brother Michael LaGrasse; and two sisters Marianne Manzi and Frances LaGrasse. He is survived by three son's Richard LaGrasse and his wife Karen of Port St. Lucy, FL., Gus LaGrasse Jr. of Salisbury Beach, Kenneth LaGrasse and his wife Kathleen of Kingston N.H., and Kevin LaGrasse of Lawrence; Daughter Beverly Hart and her husband Norman of Lawrence with whom Gus live with; Brothers Joseph LaGrasse and his wife Dora of Methuen, Vincent "James" LaGrasse and his wife Nancy of Missouri; sister Catherine Cavarra Carroza of Lawrence; grandsons David, Byran, Peter LaGrasee, Timothy and Kevin Hart; Granddaughters Maureen Ferris, Suzanne Trainer, Kathleen Novel, Cara Hart, Lisa Gartside, Karin Chongris, Jennifer Boynton, and Megan Schreyack. Gus also leaves behind twelve great grand children, several nieces and nephews, and his special care giver Catherin Vartanian.
