Sgt. William F. Harrigan of Haverhill passed away Thursday morning July 1st at the age of 86.
William was the father of Donna and her husband, Jerry Fairbanks, and Patrick Harrigan. The much beloved Irishman will be deeply missed by his remaining family. He leaves behind two grandchildren, Eric and Elizbeth; a brother, Robert; and two sisters, Gladys and Joanne, as well as many nieces and nephews. William was predeceased by his sisters, Eleanor Dollhouse and Marilyn Merritt and his brother, James Harrigan.
Your prayers are deeply coveted in this time of sorrow. William was the son of Leo and Ethelyn (Spaulding) Harrigan. The Harrigans have been a long standing immigrant family living in this community after his great grandparents, Patrick and Barbara Reardon came from Galway, County Down, Ireland.
William (Bill) as he was known by his close friends served his time in the US Army Air Rescue in Newfoundland, Canada. He was a funny, sharp witted man who loved to write poetry, sing limericks, and had a great passion for football. And, he never had a problem telling you what was on his mind.
A passionate man who deeply missed his loving wife, Rita (Pelletier) Harrigan, has gone on to see the LORD.
At William's request, there will be no services.
