Clarence E. Bauman, 80, of Geneva, a U.S. Army World War II veteran, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, at Chalet Village in Berne. The Adams County native was a member of American Legion Post 468, Geneva Blue Lodge 621, Fort Wayne Scottish Rite and Mizpah Shrine. He attended High Street Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Ellen; sons Alan of Berne and Galen of Linn Grove; a daughter, Diane Achleman of Berne; stepsons Jay of Monroe, Deryl of Decatur and Brian of Geneva; a step-daughter, Cheryl Lehman of Hot Springs, Ark.; brothers Albert of Decatur and John of Roswell, N.M.; sisters Viola Bauserman of Decatur and Ann Hinchman of Winchester; eight grandchildren; five step grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie, who died in 1989; five brothers; two sisters; and two great-grandsons.
Services are 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Yager-Kirchhofer Funeral Home, Berne, with calling beginning at 9 a.m. Calling also from 2 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home with Masonic services at 8:30 p.m. Military graveside rites will be performed by American Legion Post 468 at M.R.E. Cemetery, Berne. Memorials are to Geneva High Street Methodist Church or Adams County Home Health Care.
