Grandpa Donnell Died At Sayre Tuesday
His many friends here were grieved to learn of the death of D.B. Donnell at the home of Mrs. A.R. Harris, a daughter, of Sayre, Oklahoma Tuesday, the 11th. The remains were returned here and laid beside those of his wife with Revs. L.A. Reavis and Leon O. Lewis officiating.
Grandpa Donnell, as he was best known to the people of this section, would have been 88 years of age had he lived to June 3rd. Most of his life was spent on the frontier of Texas gradually moving west as the eastern part of the country became settled.
He often visited with the editor of this paper. He had a wonderful fund of historical data during the time that he was a soldier in the armies of the Lost Cause and down to the time of his passing.
His smile and ease of manner made him welcome. His was a life well spent doing the humbler tasks for the benefit of his fellow man. Truly he was on of God's noblemen. His faith in Christianity, his assurance of a home eternal often caused him to remark that he was ready to go to a better world. We had no nobler, truer friend - the nation no better citizen.
