Nobility. He was the only son of Eudes IV and Jeanne de France, countess of Artois that survived his childhood. In 1338 he was married to the heiress of Auvergne, Jeanne. She bore him three children: Jeanne, Marguerite and Philippe. He died during the siege of Aiguillon after being kicked by a horse.
