Sarah Baker was born March 31, 1876, in Kentucky, daughter of Elijah Baker and Melda Powers. In about 1897, Sarah married Andrew Jackson "Jack" Anderson, who was born April 1, 1872, in Whitley County, Kentucky, son of William Anderson and Elizabeth Ryan.

Sarah and Jack had seven known children: Melda E., born April 24, 1898; Stella Ida, born April 13, 1901; Eligah Lawrence, born December 3, 1903; Flora Kathryn, born December 19, 1905; Maggie Ethel, born March 3, 1907; Dessie Lee, born August 10, 1909; and Ella Louise, born July 9, 1912.

In 1900, Jack, age 28, a farmer, born April 1872 in Kentucky; and Sarah, age 24, born March 1876 in Kentucky; and their 2-year old daughter Melda, born April 1898 in Kentucky; were living in East Pine Knot, Kentucky (Whitley County) with Jack's parents: William, age 65, a farmer, born May 1835 in Kentucky; and Elizabeth, age 64, born November 1836 in Tennessee. Also living in the household was Jack's sister, Nancy, age 16, born April 1884 in Kentucky.

In 1910, the family was living in Jellico, Kentucky (Whitley County). Jack and Milford, Jack's son by his previous marriage, were working in the coal mines. The household, all born in Kentucky, included: Andrew, age 33, married twice, married 13 years; Sarah, age 32, married twice, married 13 years, six children; Milford L, age 16; Melda, age 12; Stella, age 9; Elijah, age 7; Flora, age 5; Maggie, age 3; and Dessie, age 0.

By 1920, the family had bought a farm in Walnut Grove, Kentucky (Rockcastle County). The household included: A. J., age 52; Sarah, age 43; Elijah, age 14; Thora, age 13; Maggie, age 11; Dessie, age 10; and Ella, age 9, born in Kentucky.

By 1930, the family had moved to Oklahoma and was living on a farm they owned in Lexington (Cleveland County). The household included: A. J., age 56, married at age 19; Sarah, age 52, married at age 16; Flora, age 25, born in Kentucky; and Louise, age 14, born in Kentucky.

Jack died February 7, 1944, and was buried in the Lexington Cemetery in Lexington, Oklahoma (Cleveland County). Sarah died May 28, 1955 and was buried beside her husband.
