Born July 25, 1921, in Nanticoke, he was a son of the late Joseph and Agnes (Day) Cholewa. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Baltimore.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stanley and Theodore.
Surviving are his son, Leonard, Jr., Alden section of Newport Township; daughter, Nancy Lee Kuchta, Avanel, N.J.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard, Nanticoke, and Francis and Eugene, both of Baltimore; and sisters, Eleanor Pientka, Alden, and Irene Zdziewski, Baltimore.
Funeral services will be held at a time to be announced from the Earl W. Lohman Funeral Home, 14 W. Green St., Nanticoke. Interment will be in Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Cemetery, Alden.
