She had only been left for a moment when she became entangled with gift-wrapping ribbon tied to a bed in her grandparents' Reserve home.
The ribbon, family members said, had been tied onto a toy that was hidden in the closet for her birthday.
Destiny was found by family members Thursday around 5:33 p.m. in her grandparents' Parker Lane home hanging from a bedpost of their bed with a ribbon around her neck. Her family members cut her down, attempted to revive her and called 911.
Members of the Reserve Volunteer Fire Department administered CPR to Destiny, who was taken to River Parishes Hospital in LaPlace, where she died.
