Samuel Henry Bailey was born on September 6 1880 in Simpson's Run, Lewis County, West Virginia. He was the eldest child of Peter Smith Bailey and Martha Summerville Bailey. He married Amy Bessie Lovett on May 24 1905.
He was raised on a farm near Jackson's Mill in Lewis County, WV. He owned and operated a dairy farm. He was well respected and know for paying honest wages. Field hands would walk extra miles to work for him. They knew the pay was good and his wife was a good cook.
He died October 3 1975 in Weston, WV
