Patricia D. Hocker was born on April 8, 1962 to Dean Hocker and Evalou Ledford of Abilene, Kansas. She later graduated from Abilene High School in 1980. The following year Patricia married Chris Price on March 28, 1981. Mr. and Mrs. Price were married for two years before they had their first child. In total they had three children: one girl, Kati in 1983, and two boys Kody in 1986, and Kyle in 1989. In 1991, Patricia Price was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Mrs. Price was involved in many different groups, such as the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and she served as the El Dorado Community Multiple Sclerosis Walk Coordinator. She also served on the Kansas board of directors for the Resource Center for Independent Living. Price was a full-time volunteer teacher's aide at Jefferson elementary in El Dorado, KS. She loved to volunteer because she enjoyed working with others and especially children. On May 12, 2000 she was honored as mother of the year for the South Central and Western Kansas Division of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. A quote that she lived by was "I will have the strength to overcome whatever may come my way." In the spring of 1993 Price became wheelchair bound due to the fact that she was paralyzed from the waist down. In 2005 Price's family had to put her in a nursing home which was not the easiest thing for them. Patricia was in a nursing home from 2005 to May 5, 2007 when she died leaving her husband and three children behind. She will always be remembered by family and friends for everything she accomplished in her life.
