Harry Irving Balentyne Jr., 89 ROCKFORD - Harry Irving Balentyne Jr., 89, of Rockford passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010, in P. A. Peterson. Born May 23, 1921, in Belvidere, the son of Harry and Lydia (Dralle) Balentyne. Married Maxine Duffy on Nov. 25, 1950, in Belvidere; she died Nov. 14, 1994. Married Sonia Anderson Droy on Jan. 20, 2001, in Lake Geneva, Wis. Retired from Woodward Governor Co. after 42 years. Veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, 100th Infantry Division in Europe. Member Holy Family Catholic Church, Industrial Management Association, YMCA Retired Men's Club, Knights of Columbus, Roscoe Sportsman's Club, Holy Family Collection Counters, Allen Chapel soup kitchen volunteers and VFW. Survivors include his wife, Sonia; children, Kathy (Mike) Cohn of Wheeling, Dan Balentyne and Beth Balentyne of Rockford; stepchildren, Bradley, Todd and Dan (Laura) Droy, all of Denver, Scott (Mary Ellen) Droy of Winnebago, Brian (Janet) Droy of Roscoe; grandchildren, Brooke (Thain) Bell, Lauren (Kevin) Mininger, David (fiancée, Britta Vantrease) Droy, Megan (fiancé, Brian Guthrie) Droy, Brandon (Nicole) Droy, Tyler and Alex Droy, Taylor and John Droy, Kaylie Droy; great-grandchildren, Emerson and Clayton Bell; brothers, E. James Balentyne and Richard (Beverly) Balentyne, all of Belvidere, and Kenneth (Patricia) Balentyne of Rockford; brother-in-law, Richard Blake; and sister-in-law, Juanita Balentyne. Predeceased also by parents; sister, Phyllis Blake; and brother, Gerald. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 14, in Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, with rosary at 7 p.m. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
