Alfin "Al" Jorde, 92, of Blooming Prairie, died Friday, July 9, 2010, at Owatonna Hospital.

Alfin LeRoy Jorde was born April 21, 1918, in Marshall County, Minn., to Carl M. and Emma J. (Olson) Jorde. He attended high school at Thief River Falls High School. Magazine sales brought him to Blooming Prairie where met Lorrayn. On Nov. 18, 1940, Al and Lorrayn were married at the First Lutheran parsonage. He entered the army in 1942 and served in World War II on a tank destroyer in the central Pacific. Following his discharge from the Army in 1945, Al went into the insulation and roofing business. He owned and operated Jorde Building Supplies for more than 28 years until retiring in 1980. Lorrayn passed away on Aug. 26, 1988. Al was a life member of the Blooming Prairie VFW and American Legion. He also served on the Blooming Prairie School Board for 12 years, was a member of the Blooming Prairie Country Club and club champion, and held many offices and was an usher at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie.

He is survived by his daughter, Kay (Harry) Rollings, of Grafton, Wis.; two grandchildren, Joel (Lauri) Rollings and Jennifer (Nathan) Kresse, of Milwaukee; brother, Donald (Grace) Jorde, of Thief River Falls; sisters, Myrtle Gist, of ElCajon, Calif., Laura (Edward) LaPointe, of Rochester, Doris Spencer, of Palm Desert, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lorrayn; brothers, Martin, Chester and Rueben; sister, Evelyn.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at First Lutheran Church, Blooming Prairie with Rev. Charles Leonard and Rev. Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Interment will be in the Blooming Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at the Worlein-Blooming Prairie Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to First Lutheran Church, Prairie Manor, or Blooming Prairie Servicemen's Club.
