Mr. Compton was born in Darke County, Ohio. He was an inspector at Union City Body Co. before he retired and he formerly owned the Country Kitchen in Ridgeville. He was also a former owner of the 5th Wheel in Bryant and the Breezeway Restaurant in Portland. Mr. Compton was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Geneva and a life member of the Union City Elks Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Ileen Lantz Compton; two sons, Ronald Compton and Donald Compton; a sister, Mildred Lucas; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Compton was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Hulda Stump Compton.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Walker Funeral Home. Burial bill be in Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. Calling will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where masonic services will begin at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
